I have a Nokia 5230 with virtual keyboard that should appear when any textfield is active, but it doesn't show. I googled around with no success, it seems a known problem (in fact there are java midp libraries to address it, but they should be integrated in the sources), have you any clue about solving it?

Thanks

p.s. I can help (I'm a developer), but I'm just checking that no one has already addressed the problem

Hi atrent,
Am actually learning of this issue now. I don't think that the issue has been handled as yet. Did you get any constructive leads from your search? Or can you suggest a solution

the only two clues I have (but I did not explore them properly) are:

  1. usage of the RIM (from blackberrry) classes to manage user interface
  2. install something like VirtualKeyboard (but it's proprietary) and see if it can help

I'd like to add that I'm interested in Ushahidi for my project (www.netlamps.it, alas in italian). We are mapping road problems with geotagged photos, at the moment we are using a customized version of MTE (http://code.google.com/p/mobile-trail-explorer/) to create reports. I'm exploring the migration to Ushahidi, I'll do it if every functionality of our current system can be ported (alas, at this stage of Ushahidi the answer is NO)
