Currently as per the docs only RHEL7.5 is supported. The steps mentioned in docs is not working as expected for RHEL8.
Support for CUDA installation in RHEL8.

Can you point to the doc instructions you are trying to follow ?
Which version of xCAT are you using ?

I am using xCAT 2.16.4 version.
