This happens when I drag an item over one of NEI's utility buttons.

uh....why do you have nei installed? if it's just for those utility buttons you could use this.

I use a quite a few NEI features, such as the data dumps and utility buttons. I also like how it fixes the freeze when searching in the creative menu (I have a rather large set of mods).
