Description
Describe the bug
I have ticked the usual settings in the File Pane of Classic Explorer (see screenshot) but the shared folder icon overlay does not appear in Windows 11 File Explorer navigation pane.
Share folder "share" has no icon overlay
Area of issue
Windows Explorer
To reproduce
- Click the blue shell icon in File Explorer to open Classic Explorer Settings
- Select the "File Pane" tab
- Tick the following:
- Add icon overlay for shared folders
- Share overlay icon - click the meatball button, choose your preferred icon
- Show hidden shares (optional)
- Show overlay on in Explorer
- Click OK
- Sign out of Windows
- Sign into Windows
- Open a File Explorer window
- Look for the overlays on shared folders
- Curse
- Restart Windows
- Open a File Explorer window
- Look for the overlays on shared folders
- Cry
Expected behavior
Expected to see my chosen icon on shared folders, e.g.
Open-Shell version
4.4.195
Windows version
Windows 11 24H2
Additional context
Something else I notice since the March Windows 11 update is that the Classic Shell toolbar is now right justified instead of left justified. It maybe unrelated. Or it could be that the Microsoft Windows UI team are looking to find new ways to annoy users of Open/Classic Shell.
