Uberは、2009年にGarrett CampとTravis Kalanickによって設立され、6月にはアプリがリリースされ、2012年には、海外に進出している。
2015年時点での時価総額は、$62.5B(7500億円)である。
2009年8月に、Seed Roundを実施し、$200K(2400万円)を、創業者の二人、Garrett CampとTravis Kalanickが出資している。
Garrett Campは、StumbleUponを2001年11月に、Geoff Smith、Justin LaFrance、Eric Boydと共に創業する。
StumbleUponは、シリコンバレーの投資家に気に入られ、Brad O’NeillがSan Franciscoに来るようにサポートし、また、2001年1月にAngel Roundで出資している(出資額は不明、会社設立前ということになる)。

Ram Shriramは、何度も出てきているが、GoogleのBoard of MemberでSherpalo Ventureの経営者。
Ron Conwayは、最も尊敬されているAngel Investorで、SV Angelの経営者。
StumbleUponは、2007年にeBayに$75M(90億円)で買収されたが、2009年に、Garrett Camp、Geoff Smith、Ram Shriramによって、買い戻され、独立企業に戻っている。
