How to Install Patches for The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series is a collection of all four seasons, The Walking Dead: Michonne, and the 400 Days DLC of the acclaimed adventure game series based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman. The Definitive Series includes graphical enhancements, gameplay improvements, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content[^1^]. However, some players may encounter issues with the game's resolution, audio, or performance. In this article, we will show you how to install patches for The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series to fix these problems and enjoy the game in its best possible state.

Resolution Patch

One of the most common issues with The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series is that it does not support ultra-widescreen resolutions (21:9 or higher) natively. The game has a static 16:9 aspect ratio, which means that it will display black bars on the sides of the screen on ultra-widescreen monitors[^3^]. To fix this issue, you can use a tool called Telltale Widescreen Patcher, which allows you to adjust the game's resolution and aspect ratio to your liking. Here are the steps to use this tool:

  1. Download and run the Telltale Widescreen Patcher from here.
  2. Run the game and select the desired resolution in the Definitive Menu audio/display settings. Exit the game.
  3. Download and run the latest release of TellTaleWidescreenPatcher.exe.
  4. Click Browse, then navigate to \WDC.exe and select it.
  5. Choose the desired Resolution from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Patch.
  7. Launch the game and enjoy it in ultra-widescreen mode.

Audio Patch

Another issue that some players may face with The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series is that the game's audio may be out of sync with the subtitles or the lip movements of the characters. This can be very distracting and ruin the immersion of the game. To fix this issue, you can use a tool called Telltale Music Extractor, which allows you to extract and replace the game's audio files with better quality ones. Here are the steps to use this tool:

  1. Download and run the Telltale Music Extractor from here.
  2. Navigate to \Pack\Default and copy all .ttarch2 files to a new folder.
  3. Run ttarchext.exe and drag and drop one of the .ttarch2 files onto it. This will extract all audio files from that archive.
  4. Repeat step 3 for all .ttarch2 files in the new folder.
  5. Delete all .ttarch2 files from \Pack\Default.
  6. Copy all extracted audio files from the new folder to \Pack\Default.
  7. Launch the game and enjoy it with better audio quality.

Performance Patch

The last issue that some players may encounter with The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series is that the game may run poorly on some systems, especially older ones. This can cause stuttering, lagging, or crashing of the game. To fix this issue, you can use a tool called Telltale FPS Booster, which allows you to optimize the game's performance by tweaking some settings. Here are the steps to use this tool:

  1. Download and run the Telltale FPS Booster from here.
