One of the reasons I've always been a bit hesitant to fully recommend AT Bar is because the most common thing people want it for - changing text and background colour is quite complicated. I think this should be a 2 click issue with no decisions rather than 4 clicks with 3 decisions.

Right now, the obvious thing is to click on the palette icon but then you have to make a complicated decision:

  1. Toolbar Colour
  2. Change text and link colours
  3. Change page style

In fact, what the user wants is to change the text colours and background colours. A combination of 2 and 3. In neither of those options is there any visual indication of what the colour combination actually looks like.

I think, the JISC TechDis popup pretty much has this right: http://screencast.com/t/gVuG6Z2y. Something like that should be what the user sees when they click on the icon. Maybe even adding the type face.

The page style and toolbar colour settings should either be somewhere else or be moved to an advanced options link at the bottom.
