<p class="animated__card-body">The subfamily Bedotiinae (of the family Melanotaeniidae) consists of two
genera
(Bedotia and Rheocles) and 16 species. Bedotia and Rheocles are endemic to Madagascar.</p>

<p class="animated__card-body">The family Cichlidae is large and diverse with at least 251 genera and 1743
species. Madagascar has 29 described species across 6 genera - Katria, Oxylapia, Paratilapia,
Paretroplus, Ptychochromis, and Ptychochromoides.</p>

<p class="animated__card-body">The family Aplocheilidae currently holds 16 species within two genera and
can be
found in Asia, Madagascar,and the Seychelles. Only the genera Pachypanchax, currently with six
described species, is found on Madagascar.</p>

<p class="animated__card-body">The family Clupidae consists mainly of marine species. Two species in the
genus
Sauvagella and one in Spratellomorpha are endemic to the freshwaters of Madagascar and are important
