Checklist

  • I have used the search function for open and closed issues to see if someone else has already submitted the same feature request.
  • I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
  • This request contains only one single feature, not a list of multiple (related) features.

App version

3.0.1

Where did you get the app from

Google Play

Problem you may be having, or feature you want

Congrats on the big 3.0!

The new home screen is nice, but there's one thing I noticed right away that rubbed me the wrong way. It's not a huge deal, no need to have it at the top of the priorities list, but I think AP would be better if this was changed.

When a specific episode is being played, or is paused, it's already shown in the mini player at the bottom of the screen. Seeing it then also at the very start of the Continue listening seems redundant and unnecessary.

Suggested solution

Don't show the currently playing/paused episode in the continue playing list.

Thanks as always for your great work!

Sorry, I don't think this idea leads to predictable app behavior. Then pressing the play button would make the clicked episode disappear and another (previously played) one show up. This is probably not what one would expect when pressing the play button.

Sorry, I understand that I didn't explain myself clearly. What I meant was that any episode that is currently in the miniplayer at the bottom of the screen should not be shown in the Currently playing list. Then there would not be the issue you rightly address.

Yeah, this is exactly what I understood. As soon as you click an episode then, that new episode is in the miniplayer and therefore gets hidden from the queue. The episode that was in the miniplayer before is still in the queue and suddenly pops up because it is no longer in the miniplayer. So clicking play on an episode makes it disappear, and another episode suddenly pops up. That is not the expected behavior of a "play" button.

Oh, right, now I understand you. Sorry! We where speaking past each other because I was thinking of fewer types of instances where this would kick in than you. Yes, you're probably right that when starting to play something from the list it might be a bit jarring if that thing was removed from the list.

But the instance I was thinking of was when you open the app and there's already an episode in the miniplayer and the same episode is first in the Continue listening list. I still don't think that looks right. But I should've thought about other instances, like you did, and I understand that having one policy for when there's something in the miniplayer already and another one for when something is in the miniplayer because you started it from the Continue listening list, might be just too much trouble.

As I said, not a biggie. Thanks for listening :)
