nimrod serve only answers the first request

To reproduce:

Start the server with

cd $NIMROD_DIR/tests/caas
nimrod serve --server.type:stdin idetools_api.nim

Which echos approx.

This is by design. You didn't modify the source files in any way, so nothing needs to be done?

If this is by design, then it has a flaw - any other command sent (such as check, or an idetools command) is also ignored.

If you want to run "nimrod check", you must either write a new version of the file to disk (which will cause recompilation) or use the --trackDirty command-line option. If "nimrod check" doesn't answer anything, this means that the last compiled version is still up-to-date and it doesn't have any errors. And don't get me wrong - there are known bugs in the serve mode that make it unreliable for continuous compilation, but not doing unnecessary work is part of the spec.

Commands like "--def" should always answer something on the other hand.

It doesn't matter what you call. Take idetools --suggest --track:idetools_api.nim,1,1 instead.

I tested this a long time ago now, but @reactormonk is right. IIRC calling any of the idetools twice results in no output the second time. If this is by the design then it is wrong.

I'm closing this since it works in nimsuggest, at least, which is the future anyway.
