I updated the issues here: EtherealEngine/Universal-Volumetric#164 (comment)
This looks promising but is not complete and contains outdated info... it references UVOL and the other repo on XRFoundation calls it DRCS...
The unity demo there does not work, neither is there one in this repo, nor a work-flow for WebGL/webpage.

Keenly following, but as a non-coder can only hope for updates.
Regards.

Hey hey,

I've updated to the latest, which would have most of the stuff, some caveats.

I was building this when I was the owner of the XR Foundation org repos. We had some drama so I moved the things that were generally my area of work and interest to Atlas Foundation, which is another open source org for this kind stuff. Since then I've moved on to focusing on some other WebGL projects. Would be interested in maintaining it if there is real interest, but we didn't get a ton of interest or adoption so I've been focused more on virtual avatars.

We used to call the format Dracosis, and the file is .drcs -- it's the same packing format as uvol. We really focused on the web experience, and it definitely works for WebGL. Our friend Will at Wild Capture has used the format extensively for their web demos: https://www.wildcapture.io he'd probably be down to help out with encoding files and the like if it's not working out of the box. Happy to connect you.

I don't know the condition of the Unity stuff. I got it working on Linux and rendering into Android directly through OpenGL. Another engineer did the iOS Metal to native. The bindings might not be in a great state. A talented Unity dev could probably see what's up and resurrect it.

The WebGL stuff should be solid, though. If you're on Discord, I'd be down to hang out and try to troubleshoot getting an encoding through, and I can write some docs on it. The Unity stuff is probably out of scope of what I could take on right now., but I could give a Unity dev some pointers to move it along. new moon#5432 on discord
