There appear to be many VIP sites that are broken in various ways. A common symptom is the user not being able to follow the site.

I think there are a few cases:

Old wp.com sites that have moved to VIP Go
VIP Go sites that are marked as private
VIP Go sites that have their apis disabled in various ways
