What

Users often use domain-specific emails to create WordPress.com accounts, but connecting their domain can cause their email to stop working, leading to difficulties in sending/receiving emails or logging in.

Why

Users often use domain-specific or company-specific emails, like user@company.com, to create WordPress.com accounts. Then they proceed to purchase a plan from WordPress.com and connect their domain company.com to the platform.
However, a common issue arises once the NS record of the domain company.com is pointed to WordPress.com: the email [user@company.com] ceases to function. Consequently, users may find themselves unable to send or receive emails, and they might encounter difficulties logging into WordPress.com, especially if they forget their password or rely on email login links.

To mitigate this, I propose implementing a pop-up notification. When a user attempts to add a domain to WordPress.com and their account email matches the domain, a pop-up message would appear, conveying something akin to the following

Your WordPress.com account is created with the email user@company.com, and you are now connecting the domain company.com to WordPress.com. It’s vital to be aware that your email services will experience a temporary interruption until you configure the required email DNS records. To avoid this, add the necessary DNS records to the DNS in WordPress.com before changing the name servers. See this guide for step-by-step instructions.”
