It sounds like progress indicator is also supported in many Linux distros (Ubuntu) and Mac.

Mac and Ubuntu have progress indication on per-app basis, while win api has progress indication on per-window basis.

Does this imply that such indication won't be implemented in the core at least on per-app basis? I think it makes sense.

Just a note for anyone who might attempt to implement Win32 support first and leave other platforms for later, so the API won't be so win32 centric.
