I struggled to find suitable images for RHEL and CentOS with support for VirtualFunctions (SR-IOV). After some experimentation, I found two:

OpenLogic:CentOS:7-CI:latest
RedHat:RHEL:7-RAW:7.4.2018010506

that have SR-IOV enabled (tested with Standard_DS4_v2 size).

hi @ams0,
In the article we clearly state the supported operating systems under the "Supported Operating Systems" section as:

Ubuntu 16.04: 4.11.0-1013 or greater kernel version
SLES 12 SP3: 4.4.92-6.18 or greater kernel version
RHEL 7.4: 7.4.2017120423 or greater kernel version
CentOS 7.4: 7.4.20171206 or greater kernel version

These are the latest in the marketplace so all you have to do is choose the latest image and it will work out of the box.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
