We should discuss solutions to ensure that templates can be easily maintained and when revised, updates can be made backwards compatible with newer CLI versions.

One solution here might be to specify a minimum CLI version in the template.

From team discussion:

  • We will include azd version in azure.yaml to specify a range (use semantic versioning expressions - e.g. min/max)
  • Update docs to outline how to pin azd version in CI/CD
