Unfortunately, the move to .NET core is disruptive to the "fsx" scenarios i.e. writing F# based functions as scripts in the portal. Basically, there are a number of known issues with FSI in .NET Core 2.0 that are tracked here. With these existing issues, users are going to run into difficulty when trying to use this feature set.
