Can I use the msal-node library with my custom cache?

I'm doing something like:

    const authResponse = await msalClient.acquireTokenByCode(tokenRequest)
    await cacheAuthAccount(authResponse)

then for requesting a refresh_token

const authAccount = await getCachedAuthAccount(tokenSignature)
  // Build silent token request
  const silentRequest: SilentFlowRequest = {
    ...Config.msal.request.silentRequest,
    account: authAccount.account,
    forceRefresh: true
  }
  const authResponse = await msalClient.acquireTokenSilent(silentRequest)

Based on the documentation:

Which is basically what I am doing and it works but sometimes I get the following error:

"msg":"no_tokens_found: No tokens were found for the given scopes, and no authorization code was passed to acquireToken. You must retrieve an authorization code before making a call to acquireToken().",

Can someone explain me what's going on? What am I missing? Ofc I am still missing some mechanism to verify if the token expired or not.
