Extension doesnt support latest authentication

I tries connecting to the database but it said

Connection error! ER_NOT_SUPPORTED_AUTH_MODE: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

But i have choosen then latest authentication methos instead of the legacy methos is that the problem?
Or this extension doesnt support the latest auth methods?

Ok then even I will change my authentication method and be done for now until the update is released.
