In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. The
vita of the blessed holy father Kiros. Let his prayer and blessing be
with us, Amen. And there was one king in the city of Rome, righteous and
who feared God, and he begat a son and gave him a name Yonani. And then
he died and afterwards Yonani was on the throne of his father. And did
everything good in what God was pleased like his father and he begat a
son whose name was ʾAbya. And after 60 years he died in glory and ʾAbya,
his son, was on the throne of his father and he did righteous deeds like
his father and did not reduce [them] not even once and the name of his
wife (was) Ninasir. And he [sic] was infertile for 30 years. And
thereafter they prayed to God, ʾAbya and his wife, and she conceived in
its time and she gave birth to twins.</foreign>

<p style="text-align: left;">Marrassini (2004:79-81) refers to this version
of the Vita of Kiros as the text of “type 1”, most commonly spread and
contained in many Mss. It is different from the Vita of “type 2” which is
attested in a few Mss. only (translated and published: B. Turaev,
“Kopto-efiopskoe skazanie o prepodobnom Kire”, Zapiski vostočnago
otdelenija I.R.Arheologičeskago Obščestva 15, 1903, 1–14). Marrassini
(2004:83) distinguishes two kinds of type 1 Vita of Kiros: “long” and
“short”. Ms. M<ref type="mss" corresp="ESakm053">AKM-053</ref>contains
the “short” version.</p>
