In that document, a set of terms are defined for the range (Linear|Circular|Undefined). Does it make sense to make DefinedTerm a permitted range?

I would say it does make sense yes! To be more specific, the Linear and Circular terms should probably be linked to their Sequence Ontology terms when possible: https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols/ontologies/so/terms?obo_id=SO:0000987 https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols/ontologies/so/terms?obo_id=SO:0000988
Not sure what URI could be used for undefined, but yes DefinedTerm being a permitted range sounds correct to me!
