We would like to add new features that would break the support for old Kobo firmware (like #54). We first need some metrics before doing that.

Could you add a reaction to that message with:

  • 👍 if your are using a firmware >= 4.20
  • 👎 if you are using a firmware < 4.20

Thanks a lot :)

👍 I think a lot of people who try to find an update of their dictionary, especially with a free dictionary that is upgraded every days too, are "geeks", so they certainly upgrade the firwmare in one of the last too... so, for me > 4.20.

BUT : you have to mention the risk to use the last version with an old firmware, or, and this is the best solution, offer 2 versions of it (one for fw<4.20 and one for fw>=4.20). The old version could be frozen (=no new word is added), users should understand it...

Nothing big:

  • The dictionary signature is not part of each word definition in the HTML but into the ZIP comment (it generates smaller files); meaning that firmwares < 4.24 lose the signature and "Le petit Robert 2013" will be printed.
  • Maybe the handling of the <math> HTML tag (Handle the <math> HTML tag #54) that would crash firmwares < 4.20.
