Current Behaviour

Boostnote showing multiple storage location referencing same folder

Expected Behaviour

Boostnote should only show unique storage location.

Step to reproduce

boostnote1
boostnote2

I installed Boostnote on Manjaro 19 yesterday. Play around a bit on creating notes, and adding storage location & folder.
I'm trying to move default storage location into Documents folder (instead of under Boostnote folder). So, I've added new storage location. But I can't figure it out how to remove/delete default storage location after I created new storage location. So, I delete manually Boostnote folder via file manager.

This morning when I open again Boostnote, it shows duplicate of storage location. I tried to re-install boostnote, the result still the same.

Environment

  • Boostnote version: 0.15.1
  • OS version and name: Manjaro 19.0.2 (XFCE)

Could you try pressing the unlink button for 3 of the 4 storages? That will leave only one.

Then to set it up in the correct directory, make a folder Boostnote in your Documents (or wherever else you want). Then add that folder as a new storage location.

Every time I click on unlink button, it show confirmation dialog. after select "confirm", nothing happened

Thanks for the extra info. Then not being able to unlink is the root cause of the issue.

Unlinking works fine on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04. So my guess is that this issue only occurs on Manjaro.

I'm experiencing the same problem with the package installed from https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/boostnote/.
I added a few folders just to learn how to use the interface and now cannot unlink them even though the pop up dialog says it did. Interestingly if I remove the package and re-install it the same exact folders are again created.

Is there a config file I can edit somewhere so that on a fresh install it will not have the previous folders?

My system:

  • Linux archlinux 5.4.55-1-lts #1 SMP Fri, 31 Jul 2020 17:38:35 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux
  • KDE plasma 5.19.4

You can try to edit the boostnote.json to remove your extra folders.

@Flexo013 - Thanks for your reply. I am not trying to remove extra folders, I'm trying to unlink the storage. The file boostnot.json is actually empty, and even if I remove it entirely every time I relaunch boostnote it gets recreated along with an empty folder notes. Any suggestion?

I'm going to have to look a little deeper into this. I don't know if you can manually edit the storages somewhere (like you can with folders).

The root cause of this problem is somehow that the path within Manjaro is handled differently.
