There is currently no vision or setting for this. If we choose a version and update it once a year around the same time, we make it easier to:

  • Check if there are newer APIs we can use
  • Allow new contributors to know which version of the docs to use to find the best API version

In my products, I support the last five versions. Right now the older SW version I support is SW2018 and I'm planning to update that to SW2019 soon. There's no fixed cadence yet, though.
