We need to create an observations Dataset which contains reanalysis data and other commonly used products like AWAP. Its data reference syntax will need to be carefully constructed so that it plays nicely with the CMIP5 and CMIP3 Datasets (i.e. so that the merging of constraints can happen easily).

@paolap has started work on making ERA-Interim available via the plugin

I've updated the format and directory structure of our ERA-Interim reanalysis collection, these are 6hr data for most level variables from 1979 up to date. Pretty much all 6hr data is available as grib and most of it is converted to netcdf, with the exception of many of the surface variables which I convert only if requested. This can be easily done though. I've tried to mimic the CMIP5 DRS, but haven't test it yet. Data in ub4 project and would need to be mounted to be visible by vistrail. Maybe we could start by copying somewhere in ua6 one of the DRS+file?

Claire Trenham just told me that they mounted ub4, the project hosting ERAI on the CWSLab. It should be visible from tomorrow. So next week we should be able to have a go at adding the dataset

That sounds great @paolap - a module based on the drs datasets or the pre-built CMIP5 constraints could work well for that dataset.
