Describe the solution you'd like
Allow to configure key ESC to quit broot while in the top level of the TUI.

Do you mean just top level, or also like it was initially, when the stack is also empty ?

Initially, esc was like a cancel, and was going back, including to the shell when there was nothing to cancel.

Initially, esc was like a cancel, and was going back, including to the shell when there was nothing to cancel.

This sounds better. ESC to pop out the command stack or clear filters if any. If ESC does nothing and at top level, just quit broot.
