Facebook is getting into Market Place and this task is to investigate more from a business perspective vs technology.
Amazon is a Marketplace, where Amazon on not sells its own product but other resellers sell their product on their market place. In fact, Amazon makes more money by other people selling their product on Amazon, as Amazon does not need to hold inventory.
There are other players like eBay.
Facebook started initially as a consumer to consumer play where I can sell stuff to people in my local area. They would connect two people via Messenger.
Now FaceBaook is allowing Businesses (eCommerce) to list their product on the Market Place. Now the consumer can talk to eCommerce players via Messenger. They are not charging any money to eCommerce players to list their product. They will probably make money in the long term by selling ads.
Since the backend communication is ALL messenger it will be an interesting growth tool.
At this stage we are not implementing this I just want to have a business and technical discussion.
Please read up on these links: (I am attaching business links first - and then technology - please read in that order).
