For the registry to work we'll need access to as many image databases as possible. Specifically we are interested in databases that have CC-licenced images but it wouldn't hurt to know about images licences otherwise.
For each database we need to know how difficult is it to use their API to: (1) pull all the images from the service, including authorship, licencing, URLs, and any other interesting information; and (2) set up push so we can process image additions in near real time.
If the database provides any kind of licence verification we need to record that as well. For example in Wikimedia Commons images sourced from Flickr Commons mention that fact. Not authoritative but definitely better than nothing.
I can think of a couple of big databases right now: Wikimedia Commons and Flickr Commons. There may be more, I don't know.
