The colors of U+1F377 Wine Glass 🍷 and U+1F347 Grapes 🍇 are not predetermined by Unicode, but by vendor convention assume red wine and purple grapes which are more visually distinct than other varieties. Nevertheless, some people feel the need for a separate glyph. This will very likely never become a separate code point, but may be achieved with sequences or annotation to select a variant.

Many beverages also have characteristic glasses or containers. Sparkling wine is indirectly featured in two emojis, Bottle with Popping Cork 🍾 U+1F37E and Clinking Glasses 🥂 U+1F942.
