The text is written on the <emph rend="italics">recto</emph> of an <emph rend="italics">ostracon</emph> and preserves a list of ingredients normally found in ophthalmological recipes (erica, acacia and gum in <emph rend="italics">acharista</emph>; tragacanth in <emph rend="italics">pilaria</emph>). The hand is a rude uncial assignable to the 4th cent. AD.</p></div>

<item corresp="#lb2" xml:space="preserve"><ref>2</ref> <p>Above α̣ς and below the second omicron of κ̣ο̣λ̣λ̣υ̣ρ̣ι̣ο̣ν̣ (l. 1), is an unexplained short horizontal.</p></item>
<item corresp="#lb3" xml:space="preserve"><ref>3</ref> <p>Préaux suggests it should be read κόκκου (“seed”, see <listBibl><bibl><ref target="http://papyri.info/biblio/41878">Préaux 1956</ref></bibl></listBibl>, 144); if the reading is accepted, the recipe is not likely to have any connection with a remedy for eye affections. However, in medical prescriptions seeds are always named and followed by the number of seeds to be used (see <listBibl><bibl><ref target="http://papyri.info/biblio/52297">Youtie 1977</ref></bibl></listBibl>, 42). So κ̣ρόκου (“saffron”) appears more probable, since it is often associated with ophthalmological recipes. <emph rend="italics">Editores principes</emph> propose to read either κ̣ρόκου or κόκκου.</p></item>
