<div type="commentary" subtype="frontmatter" xml:space="preserve"><p>Medical prescriptions for eye-salves. The <emph rend="italics">ostrakon</emph> preserves the remains of two recipes; five short lines of an incense-based <emph rend="italics">kollyrion</emph> survive on the recto, while the verso holds a more readable text belonging to a rose-coloured (?) <emph rend="italics">kollyrion</emph> against children's affections. The ingredients mentioned in both recipes fit well with the composition of remedies against skin and eye diseases. The hand (the same as O.Bodl. 2.2185-2186) is a large uncial difficult to date with any precision. The pottery is certainly assignable to the Byzantine Era.</p><p><note type="footnote" xml:lang="en">This papyrus has been digitally edited by Margherita Centenari, with former contributions by Luca Iori and Angelica Brunazzi, as part of the Project "DIGMEDTEXT - Online Humanities Scholarship: A Digital Medical Library based on Ancient Texts" (ERC-AdG-2013, Grant Agreement no. 339828) funded by the European Research Council at the University of Parma (Principal Investigator: Prof. Isabella Andorlini). The digital edition is mostly based on the previous editions (ed.pr. = C. Préaux, O.Bodl. II 2184; ed.alt. = C. Préaux, CE 31, 1956, pp. 142-3).</note></p></div>
