《星洲日報》創辦於 1929 年 1 月 15 日，其創辦宗旨就是傳承中華文化。於 2019 年慶祝創刊 90 週年紀念的《星洲日報》經歷英國殖民地時代、抗日時期、獨立運動，直至建國之後的今天。《星洲日報》曾二度停刊，第一次是在 1942 年至 1945 年，因日軍南侵，馬、新兩地相繼淪陷而被迫停刊；第二次是 1987 年遭馬來西亞政府援引出版和印刷法令吊銷出版准證。1988 年 4 月 8 日，在現任社長張曉卿及高層的爭取之下，《星洲日報》得以復刊。
