Describe the bug

A clear and concise description of what the bug is.
On the community site, when I click on the "Unanswered" button, many topics on that list are not even questions. Some are also not of type "unresolved" but have no type. I believe this should only list topics that are unresolved (or of type unresolved and have no replies potentially)...

Software Versions

  • DNN: 09.13.01
  • Module: 08.00.01

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to the community website forums
  2. Click on "Unanswered"
  3. Notice many in the listing are not answerable

Expected behavior

Should only show questions that can be resolved by an answer.

@valadas Thank you for logging this.
When I open "unanswered" I only see threads that have 0 replies (which is what the module checks AFAIR)
But I'm logged in as an Admin, maybe that makes a difference?
Can you post one of more thread links you see in the list that is not answerable please?

@valadas thank you for posting this. The "unanswered" is simply topics with zero replies. We recently added "most replies" and "most likes". What if "unanswered" became "no replies" and "unresolved" is added to address what you are suggesting? @Timo-Breumelhof and I had discussed how that toolbar is getting crowded so that might need some UI work.

https://dnncommunity.org/forums/development-and-extensions/getting-started/developer-documentation/ would be one, this post is informative and locked, so nobody could even answer it.

https://dnncommunity.org/forums/Getting-Started/installing-dnn/first-time-installing-dnn/ is locked and has no "type" of unresolved.

https://dnncommunity.org/forums/development-and-extensions/release-testing/scenarios-for-automated-testing/ is not locked but has no type of unresolved.

I am not sure where to find one of type unresolved, but I like the idea of having 2 different filters like "Unanswered (maybe No Replies)" or "Unresolved"...

@valadas When the original poster creates a topic, they can select a "status" which is probably not widely used although some of my site's users actually do go back and change it when they get a good answer.

We could create an additional view that just selects the "Not Resolved" topics.

As for "Unanswered", we should filter out "locked" topics (since you can't reply ...) and maybe any that are marked as "announcements", which really should be used a lot more for vendor / open source / release announcements.

One additional idea is to mark particular forums as "Q&A" forums vs being announcement type forums...
