Directly from event tables (see issue #1111) - all you'd need to do is ensure a knowledge of the channel to energy conversion (and fail if that information isn't available) and then bin spatially.

Wouldn't be that difficult - the result could be saved as a fits file and also read in as an XGA Image instance.
