Can’t open windows for the first time

Describe the bug
People trying to use 7.2.0 for the first time are unable to open the Carabiner Connection window or the Player Status window.

This was first reported by @sappy96 in #171, but it was not until they were able to share logs on Zulip that it became clear the problem was caused by a mistake in fixing #164.
