Prerequisites
Install Homebrew (macOS only)
Install GPG (on Linux, this is probably already installed; on macOS, brew install gpg)
Install git-crypt
Linux
Clone the repo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------> git clone https://github.com/AGWA/git-crypt.git
cd /path/to/git-crypt
make
git-crypt --version should work - otherwise cp /path/to/git-crypt/git-crypt /usr/local/bin

Mac OS X
brew install git-crypt
A Git repository <my-repo> to which you would like to add new files to be encrypted

apt install -y git-crypt

Encrypt files
cd /path/to/<my-repo>
git-crypt init
touch .gitattributes
Specify future files to encrypt in .gitattributes
<files-to-encrypt> filter=git-crypt diff=git-crypt
where <files-to-encrypt> follows the same syntax as files specified in .gitignore
Add files specified in .gitattributes to <my-repo> and push up to Git host
Verify in Git host files are encrypted

Have you had a look at RNG?
Fedora/Rh/Centos types: sudo yum install rng-tools
On deb types: sudo apt-get install rng-tools to set it up.
Then run sudo rngd -r /dev/urandom before generating the keys.
gpg --gen-key

git-crypt add-gpg-user "Muhammad Asim <quickbooks2018@gmail.com>"

git-crypt status -f
