Use case
Often projects are important for acounting / billing.
Not everbody use always tasks.
And sometimes even with a lot of small tasks it is also difficult / inconvenient to assign every step/time to a single task.
Suggested implementation
An option to select whether tasks are necessary or not for time record.

i think that's a great idea.
for me, it's just that it's not a task but a pure record of how much time you spend on "necessary" or " unnecessary" things.
more as a note and information me for other people in my team.

I agree with the request: tasks are not always necessary.
I track time for invoicing of course, but also to analyze time for non invoiceable task, such as management, administrative tasks, etc. So tracking time spent as zumani says is not only for invoicing...
