Some of the services originate as just a student or a small personal project for the public and sometimes gain great popularity. Due to the increased popularity and increased traffic, the costs of maintaining the service are increasing, and from the point of view of a personal project, for many people it hits the budget hard and they close their hosting sites.
And some services are created only for the purpose of promoting the domain and then when the service becomes popular, its owner remakes it for something else (and you lose all downloaded files).
Therefore, I recommend using services that have at least some kind of earnings (regardless of the difference, earnings in the form of advertising or subscription sales, etc.). This makes it more likely that the service will not die in a few years.
