pascalg: However, I think that in the results that can be chosen for the game, we should add "1-F" (= White wins by forfeit), "F-1" (= Black wins by forfeit) and "F-F" (= None of the players came to the chessboard).

Some discussion with pascalg brought this:
Me: [Not good to treat forfeits after annoncement of pairing different from resignation after move one. And:
Stays the problem where both players do not come to the board. Not fully sure how to handle this. I tend to think it must be treated like a draw after move one.]

Pascalg: [Nevertheless, I think that "1-F" and "F-1" should exist because it's not natural for a tournament director (who is used to using other software and who mainly only knows the Swiss system) to award a "1-0" or "0-1" result in this case. An indication that the game did not actually take place must also appear in the results and in the cross table in one way or another.

As regards the case where neither of the two players appears in front of the board ("F-F"), I think that this result should correspond either to a double loss (= 0-0), or to indicate to attribute a posteriori the status "unjustified absence" to the two players.]

More from Pascalg: [Hi Andreas,

An interesting situation: a player had to cancel the game appointment at the last moment (game lecerveaulent – jerome75lefou). The two players cannot therefore play their game before the pairing of the next round (Monday May 6).

I suggested that they introduce a fictitious draw (0.5 – 0.5) as the result for this game in order to be able to calculate the next round, and I will then correct the result for this game a posteriori.

This case highlights a fact that I have already mentioned: there are missing possibilities in assigning a result for a game. Here, we would need an “adjourned game” result (AJ – AJ), which could correspond to a pseudo draw (to distinguish it from a real match when the game was actually played).

Summary of possible results to add in my opinion:

1 – F = White wins by forfeit (same as a normal victory, it is just a different indication in the results table and the cross table).
F – 1 = Black wins by forfeit (same as a normal victory, it is just a different indication in the results table and the cross table).
F - F = double forfeit: neither player showed up (in my opinion, this is the same as if the two players had not apologised and had not been paired up. This means that they could be re-pairing together in the next round if necessary).
AJ - AJ = the game has been adjourned. This corresponds to a fictitious draw (as explained above). This result is intended to be corrected afterwards.]
