A lightweight blog which leverages Jekyll and Netlify to generate a static site from a Github repo. Neatly sidesteps hosting costs.
Find it in production here.
- Jekyll v4.2.0+ static site generation.
- Ruby v2.5.0 (though the bulk of the project is CSS)
- Ruby Gems for package management.
- Netlify as a serverless backend.
- Install prerequisites.
- Clone repo to your machine.
- Fire the new directory up in the IDE of your choice. (I'm partial to Atom.)
- Build the project on a local server. (In PowerShell, accomplish this using
bundle exec jekyll serve
). - View local changes in-browser at
http://localhost:4000/
.
Hey Val please remember to add this to the repo later kthnx

Most updates will be individual blog entries with no code changes.
-
☑ To-Do: Pride banners year round, baby.
-
☑ To-Do: Additional social networking.
-
To-Do: add quick walkthrough on configuring Netlify to the readme in case I ever need to do it again.
-
To-Do: responsive display bug for custom pride flags on mobile devices.
-
To-Do: support for post categories (currently they exist internally, but do nothing)
- Current template provided by Jekyll Themes.
- Chaz and Hayden for guidance and also being pleasant rubber ducks.
Everything is @EVHaste's fault.
The irony of listing contact details in the readme of a project which itself contains a contact page is not lost on me.
