Look at how AGT handles that: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Template:PAGEStarship

They have that fancy table which lists the parts. This would remove some pain from the patrolling admin who has to edit the appearance sentences every time. Can maybe even be templated.

The whole system needs an overhaul. You are limited to three parts, maybe four with subtype. But what if there are more? Or less?

Maybe use dynamically generated checkboxes and trust the users to know what to check. Or better yet, combine with #326.
