worked this plugin in with ELGG 1.8 also?

Probably works, but gives a bunch of deprecation errors.

My fork has never versions (both for 1.8 and 1.9). I haven't however tested them much.

The changes could be merged here as soon as they have been tested/reviewed a bit.

There's nowadays a version available for both Elgg 1.8 and 1.9, so this issue can be closed.
