This Trademark Policy (“Trademark Policy”), sets out rules for proper use of the mark “ElliotForWater” and the “ElliotForWater Logo” when referring to the ElliotForWater project and codebase.

The ElliotForWater Logo and all ElliotForWater trademarks (hereinafter referred to individually as an “ElliotForWater Mark” or collectively as “ElliotForWater Marks”) are trademarks of Elliot for Water Organisation LTD.

This Trademark Policy applies to all uses of the ElliotForWater Marks (in word and logo form).

The objective of this Trademark Policy is to ensure that the ElliotForWater Marks remain reliable indicators of source and quality and that they are protected from inappropriate and unauthorized use.

The Trademark Policy explains when and how you may use the ElliotForWater Marks without our written authorization, when our written permission is required, and what Elliot for Water Organisation LTD considers to be unauthorized use of the ElliotForWater Marks.

Elliot for Water Organisation LTD reserves the right to review all usage of the ElliotForWater Marks within the open-source community and to terminate use of the Marks by any party for non-compliance with this Trademark Policy or written authorization. Elliot for Water Organisation LTD may change this Trademark Policy at its sole discretion at any time effective immediately unless your license agreement states that the changes will become effective at a later time.

General Rule: Permission Required

As a rule, a Trademark Policy is required in order to use ElliotForWater Marks. Except for the exceptions outlined below, this Policy does not count as “permission to use” any trademarks, and there is no “open source” pre-approved use cases. To request permission to use any ElliotForWater Mark, please email info@elliotforwater.com

General Usage:

We share the ElliotForWater Mark with the community for the purposes of open source discussion, development, and support of the ElliotForWater project and technology. We understand that such use is mostly for non-commercial purposes and therefore the use of the ElliotForWater Mark, without a license, is allowed when used in a referential phrase only to describe the ElliotForWater project or the ElliotForWater code base, provided you comply with the following requirements:

  • The ElliotForWater Mark is used only to refer to the ElliotForWater project and/or technology.

  • The ElliotForWater Mark is not used as part of your product or service name, as branding manner.

  • The ElliotForWater Mark appears less prominent than your company or product name.

  • The reference to ElliotForWater does not create a sense of endorsement, sponsorship, or false association with the ElliotForWater project, or the ElliotForWater community.

  • There is no commercial activity associated with the use of the ElliotForWater Mark, including the requirement of third-party commercial software or services.

  • Identify the ElliotForWater Marks as registered trademarks ®. The ElliotForWater Marks is registered by Elliot for Water Organisation LTD in a number of countries around the world.
