select text in tmux session to copy

I am able to select text in a tmux session, but it does not copy-on-select. Is this the same problem?

In my case copy-on-select is working in tux session on remote ssh session.
BUT.
I can't copy anything from midnight commander in the same tmux session.
Ctrl+C, CMD+C, copy-on-select doesn't work at all.
It is very frustraiting.

I can't select text in my most frequent app MC in any type of shell. No tmux. I tried SHIFT or other overrides, but the selected text is immediately deselected and not copied.

Possible workarounds:

• run mc --nomouse disadvantage: suffer mouseless work
• use screen grabber like Powertoys OCR disadvantage: you can select only a rectangle and need to be precise
• try to select with SHIFT to the corner of the screen - suddenly the text will stay selected 🐞 disadvantage: you copy more text than you need

I have tested this in more recent Tabby versions over the last year, and still not working. I would fix it myself with some help.
