<title>Description</title>
<para>
Streaming of live content is supported by <command>feng</command> by providing it with a
configuration file, that provides the basic information about the stream as well as the
path where the stream itself is being delivered.
</para>
<para>
The file is a simple key-value pair file; this file format is mostly compatible with the
<filename>.ini</filename> file format used by Windows, and with the
<filename>.desktop</filename> file format used by FreeDesktop, and follows the basic
syntax of the Desktop Entry Specification format.
</para>
<para>
Section names are defined between square brackets (<literal>[]</literal>) within the file
are case-sensitive, so that <literal>[section]</literal> and <literal>[Section]</literal>
are not the name.
</para>
<para>
Within sections, keys and values are separated by the equal sign
(<literal>=</literal>). Whitespace preceding and following the sign is ignored (but the
<literal>\s</literal> escape can be used to add leading whitespace to the value. The value
string does not require quoting, and any character is allowed as a literal, with the
exception of newline, tab, carriage return and backslash characters, that need to be
escaped (respectively <literal>\n</literal>, <literal>\t</literal>, <literal>r</literal>
and <literal>\\</literal>).
</para>
<para>
Please note that these files need to be always encoded using UTF-8, and that comments use
the hash symbol (<literal>#</literal>), contrarily to Windows <filename>.ini</filename>
files.
</para>

<title>Attributes</title>
<para>
Each track in a live stream is designed by a section, whose name is used as name of the
track itself in RTSP and SDP. For each track you need to provide some attributes to
describe the track itself.
</para>
<variablelist>
<varlistentry>
<term><command>mrl = </command><replaceable>URL</replaceable></term>
<listitem>
<para>
The location where the stream is being delivered; as of this moment, this has to be
a <filename>mq://</filename> path pointing to the Posix Message Queue where the
stream is being delivered by <command>flux</command>.
</para>
</listitem>
</varlistentry>
<varlistentry>
<term><command>media_type = </command>[ <command>audio</command> | <command>video</command> ]</term>
<listitem>
<para>
Type of track, audio or video, needed for the server to identify how to pass the
proper parameters on the SDP description.
</para>
</listitem>
</varlistentry>
<varlistentry>
<term><command>encoding_name = </command><replaceable>STRING</replaceable></term>
<listitem>
<para>
Name of the encoding, to provide via SDP to the client when describing the
resource. When a standard encoding is used, you may not need to set the following
two options (<command>payload_type</command> and <command>clock_rate</command>).
</para>
</listitem>
</varlistentry>
<varlistentry>
<term><command>payload_type = </command><replaceable>INTEGER</replaceable></term>

<para>
The index in the PT (Payload Type) table for the current stream. A payload type
vaguely identifies the format of the content being streamed. If the value is lesser
than 96, a standard payload is used, and the following options
(<command>clock_rate</command> and <command>audio_channels</command>) are ignored.
</para>
<para>
You may omit to provide a parameter here; in such a case, the first free dynamic
payload type will be used. When doing so, you should not use explicit dynamic
payload types for the following tracks. As a rule of thumb, either always use
automatic payload types, or make all of them explicit.
