Possibility te rename templates without losing template affectation and fields placement

For now, if we want to rename a template, we have to do it with FTP by renaming the template folder. But when we do this, all template affectations (in categories or menu item) are lost and we have to reasign each of them.

Worst, all fields placement (like in table row or renderonly row, etc.) are lost too. It's very annoying.

Is it possible to rename templates without all these desagrement ?
