Operating System:
OS: Windows 10

Installer Version:
Installer: It doesn't say? Whatever is the latest from the site. Re-downloaded today.

App Version:
App: Also don't remember. App has refused to start all day. Overwolf reads 0.159.0.31

UI Version:
UI: No idea

Log Files:
Put links to your logs here
how to find logs: https://faq.ftb.world/books/ftb-app/page/uploading-app-logs
Log: Cannot upload a log if the app refuses to start.

Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

Every time I launch the FTB App. I get the following error in the screenshots below.

"There was an error with the FTB App". Cannot launch the app past that point.

I have reinstalled the app, Reinstalled Overwolf. Completely removed Overwolf from the PC. Ran as an Admin. Nothing works anymore. Out of the 4 computers in my household only this one receives this error. I have played FTB packs using the App perfectly fine in the past but now it refuses to start no matter what I do now. It's completely broken.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. At least for me. I can perform a fresh install of the FTB App.
  2. Installation goes fine. Overwolf and all other apps (Like Curseforge) opens and runs correctly
  3. Launch the FTB App. The loading bar fills up and the FTB Logo appears.
  4. "There was an error with the FTB App". And the app doesn't continue.

Expected behavior
The App launches normally as it has before?

Capture

Additional context
Again, for some reason. Out of the 4 computers I have here, my personal machine is the only one with this problem. Everywhere else it launches and runs perfectly fine. This started happening randomly in the past and reinstalling the FTB App used to fix the problem but not anymore as of today. Restarting the PC doesn't help at all either. The App refuses to start and I no longer know why.

having same issue as aking145, filling out error page in app and clicking submit does nothing, have reinstalled FTB app, Overwolf app, restarted PC, and still have the same error.

Could you please try again, we rolled an update to the FTB-App yesterday evening which should have resolved these issues. If this is not the case, please let us know so that we can investigate.

It does work now. However, that error does occasionally still pops up.

Most of the time, when it does, it vanishes within a second and the app works normally afterward.

Other times it sits there for a while. The first 3 times I'll admit to being impatient and closed it. But it seems to work after waiting a bit longer. Usually within about a minute. Unknown if it's a connection issue or not. I cannot tell.

I am also experiencing this issue, hadn't tried it for a week and first saw this issue less than 36 hours ago, I tried Uninstalling and reinstalling including the overwolf program. I even tried installing to a new drive.
Nothing changes, each time I open it takes 3-5 minutes and then gives the error pictured above.
Everything I try to send a report it says sending but never changes, I have left it saying sending for a couple hours without a change.

I'm encountering this issue. First time user and with a fresh install of Overwolf and FTB.
FTB App reads Ver 1.20.1231.1641 in Overwolf.
Wasn't able to locate a log in %localappdata%.ftba\ftbapp.log because I assume the app doesn't even run?
I was able to find a log in %localappdata%\Overwolf\Log\Apps\FTB App

Updating to the most recent version of Java got this working for me.
I had Java 8 Update 221 (or a version around 22x) and I just updated to the recent 271 and it is now working.

I've already had the 271 Update prior to this initial problem. That didn't fix it before.

It still shows the error but after waiting about 25 - 40 seconds, the app eventually works.

Same issue, spent last 3 hours recreating it and reverse engineering it to find logs etc.

reported on forums also.

Done it all from :

  • uninstall overwolf, ftb app
  • deleted folders in %localappdata%.ftba , \overwolf etc
  • rebooted then clean install of overwolf and have it install FTB app
  • rebooted then clean install from f-t-b.com downloaders for windows
-pull trace logs, read thru, found nothing.

Tested with Win Firewall off on all profiles too

It appears to be not install the FTB app after the OPK _file payload is pulled, like it is only deploying a small footprint which then needs to pull more down, and that pulsating logo times out on the on Launch actions, resulting in that generic error.

even after entering email address and something in the memo box ,clicking submit results in indefinite ' submitting ' status

notepad plus CANNOT find any new logs, and nothing written to file about the failed submit.

Just spoke with Jake , we tested a preview build of launcher , and it instantly worked.
There a new build push coming that should sort it.

I was able to get it to work this morning. I had to make sure both Overwolf and FTB were fully and completely closed. Open overwolf with run as an administrator. Then open the FTB app as administrator not through overwolf. Doing both of these have allowed me to get it open atleast once, scared to close it in case I can't get it back open.
