WIth typing disabled, calendar doesn't popup when clicking on date

This used to work in 2.1, so when typing is disabled, clicking in the date field pops up the calendar, as if you had clicked on the icon.

I fixed one issue, where we weren't casting $opts->typing to boolean in the PHP setup, but even though the JS now runs disableTyping(), it still doesn't popup. And I don't understand what that code is doing.
