FPP on Debian has been tested on various SBC's and other devices running the
"Bullseye" based Debian images.
In general, using the "smallest" Debian image available is best. If there is a "cli"
or "minimal" image, they work best. "server" images are usually OK. Desktop images
contain a lot of extra packages. While they will work, if you don't plan on having a
desktop environment on it, they will waste a lot of space.
Note: this will get a BASIC FPP player running on the device. Things like e1.31
output, sound, etc.. will likely work. Any hats/capes for pixels/panels, video,
etc... will likely not work. HDMI output MAY work, but may also require updates
to "env" files in /boot to properly configure. Search forums/google for instructions
for your particular device.
Note: Certain parts of installing FPP (ex: building VLC) will utilize all cores of
the SBC to near 100% for an extended period of time. If the CPU does not have
heat syncs/fans, it may shutdown in the middle of installing due to thermal limits.
If this happens, you need to restart from a fresh image. We'd suggest adding
heat syncs or fans to keep thermals under control, but lowering the CPU frequency
can also be a big help. Before running FPP_Install.sh, run a command like:
cpufreq-set -u 800000
to lock the CPU to 800Mhz or lower.

Insert into the SBC and boot.
Commands to run after boot:
Login via ssh as root (check you image on how to login as root, many will require
logging in via a default user/password and then "sudo bash")

# check root filesystem size (should be at least ~3.4GB)
df -k
# update packages
apt-get -y update
apt-get -y upgrade
shutdown -r now
# After reboot, re-loginas root and run:
wget --no-check-certificate -O ./FPP_Install.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/FalconChristmas/fpp/master/SD/FPP_Install.sh
chmod 700 ./FPP_Install.sh
#if you intend for FPP to take over the entire device including networking, run:
./FPP_Install.sh --img
#otherwise, run:
./FPP_Install.sh
# Without the --img flag, FPP will not control things like networking, video, etc... which is more suitable
# if the device will be used in docker or other containers or as a desktop environment with FPP running in the background
