How about tweaking the NPC combat ai to allow the avatar's companions to fight without guidance. Might be possible. Would certainly be appreciated by many who can't handle handling 8 party members in each combat.

Nice idea.

I was thinking about making something similar to the SMS combat. But adding AI would be cool too. Perhaps make it a toggle like active player.

(How did I miss all these issues earlier?)

It couldn't be thaaaat hard. If the monsters can do it, NPCs could do it too. Code could be repurposed/shared to conserve space. A toggle would be cool. I think it would revolutionize U4 though. Managing 8 people in combat is just something that modern, pampered (time constrained?) gamers cannot handle.

(These are all issues I shelved long ago, in favor of quest/addon critical stuff for Tott. Can't add everything!)

I always thought this would be a nice feature and would make the game more enjoyable
